Introduction

I am delighted to welcome you to our newly updated The06 website.

The06 is a registered charity set up by Churches Together in Ottery. One of our primary objectives is to help young people discover more about themselves, others and God. We want to be a credible Christian witness in the area and inspire the next generation.

In September 2012 we employed our first Youth Worker whose primary role was to deliver detached youth work within Ottery St Mary and to work closely with our local secondary school. Over time we have seen the role change to supporting our local churches in their work with young people and to build good working relationships with the local primary and secondary schools and their students.

In 2016 we developed a position description for a Youth Pastor who would be focussing on this new role. This was followed by a national advert and we were really thrilled to be able to appoint Graham Harry to the position of Youth Pastor early in 2017. Graham, who has many years experience in Christian youth work, began working with us in February 2017.

During 2017 we have seen strong relationships being formed with both churches and the schools. Graham is now active in providing a wide variety of support to the schools including leading assemblies, supporting mentoring programmes and many other innovative approaches. We see a significant opportunity for The06 to help in the areas of mental health and wellbeing of young people.

Since February Graham has become involved in leading Church Holiday Clubs, supporting existing youth groups, helping with Messy Church and has helped set up a new church youth club.

The trustees are hugely encouraged by the progress Graham has made and believe that The06 will be able to make a significant contribution with both our schools and churches.
